The Internet is a godsend for many who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of messages of sympathy and support pass across the Internet each day among the members of several online support groups for the bereaved.

"The folks I connected with online all seemed to understand the idea that one never 'gets over it' but does, in fact, learn to live with it."
Addressing the loss of a partner, WidowNet provides helpful information on finances, funeral costs, and filing for Social Security benefits as well as photos and stories from WidowNet members.
The BEC focuses on the particular needs of men, which are sometimes overlooked. Issues include continuing to work during the grieving process, and helping children to adjust to a loss.
