Question: How should I arrange my computer workstation to minimize vision problems?

Answer: You should make sure that your monitor and the material being typed are placed at a similar angle, according to Computers and Your Vision: What You Need to Know.

Use a document-holding stand so the material being typed is at the same angle as your monitor. You can purchase these desk stands in office supply stores and computer stores. Also, make sure the distance between your eyes and the material is the same as the distance between your eyes and the screen to minimize changes in eye focus. In general, minimizing head, neck and eye movements helps reduce eyestrain (as well as pesky back, shoulder and neck aches).
