For a great summer vacation, remember that she who travels light travels best. But getting a wardrobe together that is both lightweight and versatile takes a bit of planning. Style adviser Julia Fisher offers some tips.

Think about fabrics to start. Fisher says to "avoid crushable materials such as silk and linen, and make use of items that are crease-resistant and can be rolled up into virtually nothing." Coordinate your colors to allow you to cut down on the number of accessories and shoes you have to pack.

Accessories are worth some extra thought, Fisher says, because they can "transform the look of an outfit." She suggests taking along a few scarves, hair accessories and a hat, as "these take up little room and can liven up any outfit."

Being weather aware is a big part of summer travel. Don't forget to pack a bottle of sunscreen and even a small umbrella, as Fisher says, "you never know when you may need it."
