Six-Word Story Contest on Air Travel Liquid Restrictions Opens Flood Gates
BottleWise(TM), maker of smart travel solutions for the culinary traveler, and The Cranky Flier(TM), an award-winning air travel blog, today announced the winners of a six-word story contest held earlier this month to coincide with the two-year anniversary of the carry-on liquid restrictions adopted by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on August 10, 2006.
The contest invited air travelers to sum up, in exactly six words, their thoughts or experiences with the restrictions. Judging by the volume and creativity of the entries, travelers clearly have strong opinions, but also have learned that perhaps the most important thing to pack before heading to the airport is a sense of humor.
For two weeks, air travelers flooded The Cranky Flier site to express their frustration, perplexity and resourcefulness. When the contest closed Aug. 15, there were more than 500 entries. Topics included references to 3-ounce bottles, quart-size baggies, long lines, traveling with wine, and favorite toiletries tossed by security. The contest ran from Aug. 5-15.
The Winning Entries
Grand prize, winner of a 4GB iPod(R) nano:
"Two years. Three ounces. Million headaches." Submitted by Ember D., New York
Runners-up, each winning a BottleWise Duo(TM) wine travel bag:
"Lady Liberty weeps 3 ounce tears." Submitted by Jeff C., Virginia
"Ironically, wet blankets enforce liquids ban." Submitted by David A., Oklahoma
"Celebrating 100,000,000 bottles abandoned at security." Submitted by Dara M., New York
To see all the entries, and why six words, visit the BottleWise website (www.BottleWise.com). Although the contest is closed, if you'd like to test your hand in writing a six-word story on the liquid restrictions, you can submit it there.
About BottleWise
BottleWise was founded in 2007 by James and Amy Dias in response to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) travel restrictions that make it difficult for air travelers to bring home a couple bottles of wine, olive oil or other culinary indulgence. BottleWise eliminates these issues with the BottleWise Duo, an airline-friendly travel solution that keeps bottles safe inside checked luggage. Visit www.BottleWise.com.
