I am 69 years old. Looking to meet people on line so we can
exchange letters. I love dogs I have two. I like gambling and cruises. I speak Spanish and English and I still work full time.

How do you distinguish between issues that can be worked out and are part of each person's growth versus those that indicate the relationship will not be successful no matter how much effort is put in?

Jane, such a great question! I think I will have to write an article just about that topic, but the short answer is this:
There no issue that can not be worked out in a relationship, so long as both people realize that it needs to be worked out. So how you know that relationship will not be successful no matter how much effort you put into it is if one partner wants something or lots of something and is not willing to live without it and the other partner is not willing to work on giving it or sees no reason to give it. To say it another way - the willingness to accommodate each other, give to each other and change and grow on the behalf of each other are the distinctive characteristics of relationships that work out happily.

Ok...I'm 69 years old by the calendar but I look and feel a good decade younger. I miss having a man in my life. My husband died 11 years ago and while I have sporatically dated none of the dates amounted to much. I was/am(?) one of those who gives a man one chance to impress me. I am not desperate but would really enjoy a relationship of sort, short of marriage. I don't think I am interested in marrying again...too independent and not sure I want a man in my life in that way. HOW do I find someone? I have tried the internet dating method but haven't had much success. DO they work and what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Sandi
