Make Your Day

Most people don't understand 'proactive'. It remains something they say they'll do later. Sure they will. Really.

Proactive starts now. Right now you could do something to make your life more interesting, more friendly, more fun, more fabulous, more anything. Or not.

Don't wait for someone else to make your day. Make your own day. Go for it. Do something different and interesting right now. If you can't think of anything to do, here's a list for you to choose from. Do one of these proactive things in the next 30 minutes.

1) Phone A Friend - phone a friend or family member who you haven't talked to for 12 months or more. Find out what they've been doing. You'll make their day.
2) Magazine Search - Go to the store and buy an interesting looking magazine that you have never purchased before. Read it from cover to cover. At the end, identify the three most interesting things you learned from the magazine about yourself and/or the world.
3) Eyebrows Up - Say something negative you thought about yourself recently. Then say it again with your eyebrows up. Note the difference. You don't laugh because you feel good, you feel good because you laugh.
4) Mail a Picture - Go through your old photographs. Find one of someone else. Find out where they live and mail the picture to them. Add a message. Dare them to send you a picture back.
5) Drop In - Get in your car and drop in on a friend or family member. Don't phone ahead. Catch up on the latest. Dare them to drop in sometime.
6) Google It - Pick one word or topic that interests you. Type it into Google and read the top ten search pages. Read the interesting links.
7) Sign Up - Find online a local non-credit continuing education calendar. Sign up for the most interesting course.
8) Start a TV Diet - Decide to watch only 1 hour of television a day. Decide how to use any extra time you just picked up.
9) Mystery Shop - Go to a store where you have never shopped before. Buy yourself a gift.
10) See the City - Drive to a part of your town where you have never been. Make it a safe part of town. Go for a walk or drive around the area. Look at stuff.

Go ahead. Make your day. There is no shortage of interesting and energizing things to do. If you don't know that, all you have to do is get up out of that chair and have a look around. No one ever stumbled onto something fun while they were standing still.
