Spirituality and Religion in Cyberspace
In our spiritual journey across the Internet this month, ThirdAge discovered several sites worth sharing.
The writers on the Cross Currents site offer intelligent and sophisticated commentary on many religious topics, including Foucault's discussions of politics and the soul. Cross Currents is published by the Association for Religion and Intellectual Life (ARIL).
Two other sites worth noting offer encyclopedic narrative around religious and spiritual practices and beliefs. With links to the official pages of many established religious groups, Spiritualism also provides definitions and/or brief descriptions of over 75 belief systems, from Amish to Zoroastrianism. Bent toward discussions of religious freedom, tolerance, and represssion, the Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance offers a similarly comprehensive reference to religion and beliefs worldwide.
Finally, the animated graphic of an enlightened being at Dharma and Nirvana alone is worth a visit. And for those interested in Buddhism, Dharma Net International offers a collection of links and resources.
