Phototherapy & Meditation Zap Psoriasis

A recent study has found that combining mindfulness meditation with phototherapy treatments for psoriasis may lead to significantly faster skin clearing than phototherapy alone.
Psoriasis is a common skin condition that produces red, raised skin patches. The patches, which can be very itchy, typically occur on the scalp, knees, knuckles, elbows, chest and lower back.
While phototherapy is a form of light therapy, mindfulness meditation involves being actively aware of one's internal and external environment from one moment to the next.
The study was conducted by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.
Other promising alternative remedies for psoriasis include taking anti-inflammatory supplements and herbs such as quercetin, which is naturally present in onions and other foods.
