A man is invited to a friend's home for dinner. During the evening, he notices that his host precedes every request to his wife with endearing terms. The husband calls her "Honey," "Darling," "Sweetheart" and "Pumpkin," and the wife seems to bask in his affection.
At the end of the evening, as the man is leaving, he tells his friend, "That is really nice. After all these years that you have been married, you keep calling your wife those pet names."
The friend hangs his head and whispers, "To tell the truth, I can't remember her real name."
