A man is walking in the mountains just enjoying the scenery when he steps too close to the edge of the mountain and starts to fall. In desperation, he reaches out and grabs a limb of a gnarly old tree that is protruding from the side of the cliff.
Full of fear, he assesses his situation. He is about 100 feet down a sheer cliff and about 900 feet from the floor of the canyon below. If he should slip again, he'll plummet to his death.
He cries out, "Help me!" There is no answer. Again and again he cries out, but to no avail. Finally he yells, "Is anybody up there?"
A deep voice replies, "Yes, I'm up here."
"Who is it?"
"It's the Lord."
"Can you help me?"
"Yes, I can help."
"Help me!"
"Let go."
Looking down, the man panics. "What?"
"Let go. I will catch you."
There's a long pause before the man responds.
"Anybody else up there?"
