Size Up Your Date as a Single Parent
After years of sitting on the bench, playing the dating game again may take some coaching. Dating as a Single Parent looks at one of the challenges.
This article explores the qualities that a single parent should look for in someone they decide to date. Dr. Lois Nightingale says to look for someone who is playful and has fun with kids.
Watch how your kids interact with him or her, she suggests. She says you don't want to date someone who tries to discipline your kids; that's something for you to do. And, you don't want to date someone who gets jealous when you put your children's needs first.
Make sure your prospective date speaks to children respectfully not patronizingly. And of course, Nightingale cautions, you should look for someone who has lots of patience.
