Web Site Lists the Happiest

Are you numbered among the "happiest" Americans? A USA Weekend magazine poll says married folks and people over 55 years of age are at the top of the happy list.

The survey also says spirituality is the single most important factor in personal happiness after health, with material wealth having little impact.

Only 7 percent say a satisfying job is key to their happiness and only 4 percent cite money as vital. Being loved was cited by 38 percent as essential to being happy.

Of the more than 1,000 adults surveyed, married people dominated the happy list, as did those described as "living with others" in a two-person household. But for those who think money doesn't matter, a good number of those who claimed happiness (73 percent) were earning more than $50,000 yearly.
