Verses for a Cloudburst
What with all the weather that's been drenching parts of the country lately, now might be an appropriate time to celebrate Romance in the Rain. Here's a little poem from Frederick Gossamer over at GeoCities.
The title conjures up pictures in the mind of Gene Kelly prancing through the puddles after saying good night to his sweetheart. But Gossamer describes an encounter with "a petite belle with an umbrella."
The poet moves fast. In a whistle, he's under the umbrella, his arm around her, gliding onto her neck, "as we mooched about under the romantic cape."
All ends well in the wet. Here's the final couplet:
"Blimey! The rain is only an exotic cacophony, But underneath the umbrella, it's Holy Matrimony!"
