A young man and woman go to dinner on a blind date, and about halfway through the meal the man decides he can't stand being with the woman another minute.
Just in case things were to go badly, he had asked a friend call him. And sure enough, just as the dessert comes to the table, the man's cell phone rings.
As he listens to his friend, tears well up in his eyes and his shoulders slump.
"What is it?" the young woman asks when he hangs up.
"I have some bad news," he says. "My grandfather has just died and I have to go."
"Thank goodness," his date says. "If yours hadn't, mine would have had to."
