In the quest for thinner thighs, diets and cellulite treatments are not the only possible answers. Health fashion expert Karen Wheeler says simply keeping an eye on your dress code, and watching how you dress, can help you cut an impressive figure.

For example, she says, avoid tight leggings or trousers --"these certainly won't help if your thighs aren't as thin as you would like them to be." She advises opting for a looser, flowing cut and suggests this summer's loose-fitting pants flatter because "they give the impression that it is the cut of your trousers that is wide, not your thighs."

Wheeler says to stay well away from jeans or trousers in patterned fabrics, because "these will make even the slimmest thighs look big." Conversely, "look for side-fastening, high-waisted trousers -- these have the most slimming effect on your thighs and bottom."

Other suggestions: choose dark-colored trousers rather than those in pale fabrics, because whites and beiges "stand out and tend to draw attention to the lower half of your body." And "make sure that if you wear a long, loose sweater, it comes down far enough to cover your thighs at their widest point."
