Staying Healthy at 50+
Right on target for ThirdAgers, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is releasing Staying Healthy at 50+, a report aimed at getting people to understand and incorporate preventive care into their lives.
Dr. John Eisenberg, AHRQ director, says the information in Staying Healthy at 50+ is gleaned from the research-based recommendations of the AHRQ, an organization supported by the U.S. Preventive Services. Since 1984, the task force has reviewed the evidence of effectiveness on a wide range of clinical preventive services, including screening tests, counseling and immunizations.
Staying Healthy at 50+ includes tips and recommendations to help you stay healthy. It includes easy-to-use charts to help track personal health information, questions to ask health care providers, and resources to contact for additional health information.
The booklet is part of the "Put Prevention Into Practice" program. AHRQ is the lead government agency involved in improving the quality of health care, reducing its cost, improving patient safety, addressing medical errors and broadening access to essential services.
