Speak Out: Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Fearful of things that go bump in the night? Do ghosts exist? Do modern-day witches have magical powers? What's your opinion?

Nearly half the more than 1,000 people responding to a Scripps-Howard News Service and Ohio University poll believe in ghosts -- and more than 25 percent think witches have strange powers.

But film director Roger Corman, most known for his low-budget monster films, says it's just a sign that we're now more open to alternative beliefs. And Cynthia Freeland, a philosophy professor at the University of Houston, says fascination with horror flicks and the occult is a substitute for spirituality by those who no longer practice traditional religion.

Do you believe in the supernatural -- ghosts and goblins -- or is it just a sign of the Halloween haunting times?
