Pets Required in Retirement Haven
Those "No Pets Allowed!" signs simply aren't allowed at The Trapp Foundation's latest residential housing complex in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Instead, pets are required.
The foundation has two principal requirements for applicants -- they must be over 55 years of age and must have a pet living with them. Foundation founder Annellote Trapp says it's horrible that people seeking retirement living arrangements are required to give up their pets.
The foundation's Senior Living with Pets project is a one-of-a-kind development sponsored by the non-profit organization and was established with the purpose of assisting people over 55 find housing where pets are not only permitted but welcome.
The recently completed project offers units with Jacuzzi bathtubs and marbletop bathrooms at a price that includes only maintenance expenses. All construction and finish out costs have been donated by the Foundation. Monthly maintenance fees cover on-site management, 24-hour security, maid service and three daily meals.
