More Help for Menopause Woes

As if the hot flashes and night sweats aren't bad enough, the multitude of sometimes confusing and conflicting information regarding menopause on the Internet and in magazines is enough to trigger a migraine to boot.

Cenestin, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1999, can help to relieve the hot flash symptoms of menopause. A plant-based estrogen made from soy and yam, Cenestin has been shown through clinical trials to give relief (and is similar to Premarin, the so-called gold standard for menopause treatment made from horse urine).

The race to develop plant-based estrogens is on in earnest among pharmaceutical companies hoping to attract women concerned about the side effects of estrogen-replacement therapy.
