The boy stands patiently in line, and when it's his turn, Santa picks him up, puts him on his knee and asks, "And what do you want me to bring you this Christmas, my little lad?"
"I want some skates," the boy says, "and a football, an electric train and a robot."
"Very well," Santa Claus says.
"Aren't you going to write all that down?" the boy asks.
"No," says Santa, "that's not necessary."
"But you'll forget it," the boy says.
"I have a very good memory," Santa assures him. "I won't forget."
The next day, the boy's grandmother takes him shopping with her and they go to the same store. Once again he climbs up on Santa's knee.
"What do you want me to bring you for Christmas, little man?" Santa asks.
"You see," the boy says indignantly. "I told you that you would forget!"
