Making the Grade
A psychology professor about to hand out the final exam is standing before his class .
"I know you've all worked extremely hard and many of you are off to graduate school after summer," he says. "So that no one gets his grade point average messed up because he might have been celebrating a bit too much this week, anyone who would like to opt out of the final exam today will receive a 'B' for the course."
A lot of the students are overjoyed. They pack pencils and paper in their book bags and leave the room. After the last student has left, the professor looks out over the handful of those who remain. "Anyone else?" he asks. "This is your last chance." One final student gets up and opts out of the final.
The professor closes the door and takes the roll of those students remaining.
"I'm glad to see you believe in yourselves," he tells them. "You all get 'A's.'"
