Love Her Then Leave Her -- Blame it on Biology

Love her then leave her. But it's not always all that bad. Turns out that the less time a man spends with his female partner after making love, the more attractive he finds her and the more he wants to have sex with her again, finds a study. This state of affairs may be due to an evolutionary theory called "sperm competition."

The study included more than 2,000 men and was conducted by psychologist Todd K. Shackleford and colleagues at Florida Atlantic University. All the men were in committed sexual relationships; their ages spanned 17 to 71. Based on questionnaires, the study found that the less time the men spent with their partner in the interval since their last lovemaking session, the more attractive they found their partners and the more they wanted to have sex again. Because the length of time that passed since the last sexual encounter seemed to have no bearing on the men's desire, the researchers do not believe that this is caused by sexual frustration.

The researchers instead venture that this sexual behavior may be caused by what biologists call "sperm competition," which says that sperm competition begins when the sperm of two or more males simultaneously occupy the reproductive tract of the female and must race each other to fertilize the egg. This competitive behavior may manifest itself as sexual desire in today's relationships.

So, ladies, another reason to play hard-to-get with your man as a way to keep your relationship fresh!
