Is Love at First Sight Real?

That earthshaking moment when you glance across the room and lock eyes with the love of your life: Is it real? Despite the cynicism of the present age, a new survey says love at first sight is a fact.

The poll commissioned by Australian romance fiction publishers Mills & Boon says a third of the men and women responding believe in love at first sight -- because it happened to them. Nearly half of them went on to wed the object of that magical gaze.

The survey also indicated that, perhaps unsurprisingly, looks do count. Of the 1,009 men and women involved in the study, less than one in 10 said they were first attracted by their partner's personality.

While infidelity may seem a fact of life these days, more than eight of every 10 people in the survey ruled out stealing a friend's partner. The survey also disclosed that, with women making up an increasing percentage of the workforce, the office has become the most likely place to find the love of your life.
