Lasting Love Is Hard to Find
With many marriages ending in divorce these days, a person may wonder what makes people get married in the first place. The most common answer is love, but when love doesn't last, was it really love to begin with?
Family therapist Rhona Raskin explores This thing called love in an article for UnderWire. She cites a British study that found people who divorced complained that their love just didn't grow.
Raskin suggests that if your partner helps you feel like a worthy, intelligent human, you are on the right track. If you like who you are when you are with your partner, don't try to change when the first flush of feeling wears off.
And don't confuse love with something else. People frequently fall for a face that mirrors their own. And Raskin says that "sometimes what we perceive as love is actually a tingling feeling of danger."
