Ladies: Here's How to Win Your Date Over
We either while away the hours preening and picking out potential outfits, or we get ready in a flash and indulge in a drink to calm the nerves.
But looking and feeling your best can make all the difference in whether you sink or swim on your date.
So take some dating advice from the Disaranno's Style Sguad's (www.mysinglefriend.com/disaronno) dating experts Nicky Hambleton-Jones, Gary Cockerill and Nick Ede.
Dress to Impress
Dressing inappropriately can spell date disaster.
"What you wear can really affect how you feel about yourself on a date," says 10 Years Younger's Nicky Hambleton-Jones.
"If you're wearing an outfit that makes you feel dowdy, fat, awkward or a bit tarty, you're not going to be feeling your best."
The main thing is to be yourself.
"Don't make a huge departure from what you would normally wear, or go for things that you think he will like if it's not really you."
Nicky's top tip? "Do stylish jeans and you're never going to be underdressed or overdressed."
Makeup Matters
When it comes to makeup, steer clear of the "trowel application" effect.
Gary, a celebrity make-up artist, says: "Cosmetics shouldn't be used as something to hide behind."
He has these make-up recommendations:
- Day date: For summer, all you need is a bit of tinted moisturiser, shimmer on the eyelids, mascara, rosy cream on the cheeks and some sexy lip gloss.
- Evening glamour: "You can really go for it with a night-time look -- but never overdo it on the foundation front," Gary warns. "Wear a foundation with light-reflecting ingredients that gives you a nice sheen to the skin ... Go for something sexy or dramatic on the eyes with brown, taupe or gray tones."
Stay Cool
Nick says: "A date is like a job interview in a way, and you need to impress and give off your best side.
"Show an interest in the other person and ask them guestions."
After the Date
If you've enjoyed your date, let them know. Send them an e-mail or text message, saying "hope to see you soon" and leave it open.
