Inching Our Way to Longer Life

The discovery of the fountain of youth is a way off, experts say, and experts caution not to look to any sudden breakthroughs in extending life -- but expect a series of incremental advances.

A new home video "Living Beyond 100" (Matrix Media Inc., $19.95) explores the range of social and scientific factors affecting our life spans and presents a variety of medical and academic opinions dealing with the aging process.

Featured are on-screen interviews with centenarians who describe the paths they've taken to productive and healthy old age, including 115-year old Christian Mortensen, the oldest person in the United States until his death earlier this year. He attributed his longevity to a "good life and smoking a cigar."

Eva Wright discusses diet and the role of "good, plain cooking" and the meals she prepared for her family. Contact your local video dealer for information on ordering the video.
