Healthy Pets Lead Long Lives

Better nutrition and preventative care mean pets -- along with their masters -- are living longer. Case in point: Purina's Silver Pets Program helps pets over age seven stay healthy.

The site lists the seven signs of silver which indicate your pet is aging. These signs include graying around the muzzle, slowing down, sleeping more, changing habits, changing weight, bad breath and vision or hearing changes.

Veterinarian Bernadine Cruz recommends a senior wellness exam for aging companion animals. "The technology to prevent and treat most problems is available, but to be effective, it must be used and problems caught early," she says.
