A <a target=window href="http://www.sleepfoundation.org/publications/sleepandpain.html#2">National Sleep Foundation</a> poll says one out of every three American adults lose up to 20 hours of sleep monthly due to such causes.<BR><BR> A recent foundation report found at the Web site pinpoints common sources of pain interfering with sleep and provides tips on managing problems to sleep better. It also discusses medication and when to see a doctor.<BR><BR> To manage pain while awake, the foundation suggests looking into cognitive therapy involving a training of the mind that refocuses attention from chronic pain. To improve sleep, the foundation says setting a strict bedtime schedule, avoiding naps and exercising regularly can make a difference in being able to sleep. <BR><BR> If the pain is minor and infrequent, a doctor's suggested over-the-counter medicine may be all the treatment you need, the foundation says.
