Magnetic Healing
We've all heard of animal magnetism, but what about human magnetism? The use of magnetic diagnostic instruments and magnetic therapies is on the rise.
While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) continues to replace conventional X-rays in diagnostic use, the use of various magnetic therapies to relieve stress or pain is also on the rise both at home or in health care practitioner's offices.
According to practitioners, magnets work on the electromagnetic fields that govern the body's nervous system, organs and cells. The magnetic fields produced by magnets or electromagnetic devices such as the MRI machine are able to penetrate the human body, even through bone.
At home, some say magnetic blankets and beds can improve sleep and help reduce stress. Magnetic massage devices, or reflexology pads may be used over any area of the body for pain relief.
Magnetic therapists believe this type of treatment may be effective in various ways: by easing pain, healing bones, stimulating the brain and healing wounds. It should be noted, however, that relatively few evidence-based medical studies regarding the effects of magnetic therapy on various health conditions have been published.
